How to Get into and Succeed in Law School
For at least as far back as the medieval period, the study and practice of law, medicine and theology has comprised the quintessence of intellectual and professional achievement in western civilization. To be a lawyer, doctor or member of the clergy, during medieval times, meant that you were a member of a privileged class of people entrusted with the weighty responsibility of being the expert in all affairs determined to have meaning and substance within the society. Generally, access to the study and practice of these disciplines were regarded as a privilege and exclusively reserved to members of the upper class. Collectively known as the "learned professions" - the practice of law, medicine and theology were facilitated and made possible almost exclusively through one-on-one apprenticeships senior and accomplished members of the profession. As a result, membership within these professions remained limited, coveted and highly regarded. Although much has changed since the middle ages, the study and practice of law remains one of the most important and rewarding disciplines to devote one's life. Are you interested in the study of law? Have you contemplated attending law school? Are you interested in learning more about what it takes to get there and succeed? Are you there already and need a mentor? This mentorship session is designed to provide prospective and new law school students the opportunity to ask all of the questions they have about how to prepare for law school as an undergraduate, and how navigate law school effectively once admitted. As a prospective law student, you'll get advice on law school applications, undergraduate courses to consider taking, and best practices on how to navigate the Law School Admissions Test. As a law student, you will receive advice on selecting your courses, preparing for class, making friends and successfully managing the delicate work/life balance associated with being a law student. My mentorship sessions are informal. Bring your questions and concerns and we'll go through them one by one. If by chance I can't help you, I'll do my best to get you the help you need by tapping into my vast network of former classmates.
